Iām Shannon! Adolescence through adulthood, creating art was always a way for me to express myself. It was when I entered community college with the intention to pursue a nursing career that I realized how highly I regarded art and creativity. I followed my heart and shifted my major to fine art.
I obtained a degree in graphic design from the Art Institute of California, Los Angeles. My first job after graduating college was with the J. Paul Getty Museum. It was a dream come true as I had always wanted to work for a museum. I was exposed to several areas of design at the museum, which helped further my career. I have worked for 11 years with a nonprofit community health center, Northeast Valley Health Corporation, as a Senior Graphic Designer. With 20 years of graphic design experience, I am thrilled to be pursuing a graduate degree at Academy of Art University, San Francisco CA.
My thesis project is near to my heart, as it strives to create a community that I longed for throughout my college years. My project, named Integrasian, aims to create and share identity through community for Asian American college students.
